Reds handed big injury boost ahead of Chelsea clash

Liverpool’s German midfielder Emre Can is fully fit ahead of Friday night’s clash with Chelsea, reports ESPN.

Can has been out of action since our League Cup victory over Burton, a game in which he limped off with an ankle problem, but is ready to return to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Unfortunately for Can though, there’s no obvious spot for him in the team right now, amazing considering that last season he was practically the first name on the manager’s team-sheet.

For all four Premier League matches so far Klopp has used Jordan Henderson in holding midfield with Gini Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana either side. Except the Burnley defeat, they’ve done excellently – especially the skipper in Can’s natural anchoring role…

We can’t see Klopp dropping the captain after his outing against Leicester, and Lallana is a guaranteed starter. If Wijnaldum makes way for Can, Henderson will likely move a little further forward and allow the younger man to sit and protect the back-four.

Chelsea have N’golo Kante and Nemanja Matic centrally, so will provide our sternest midfield test of the season. Klopp has to decide to stick with the winning trio or twist with Can’s inclusion. It’s a nice dilemma to have.
