Are Liverpool title contenders? Who knows. We certainly could be, the next two months before Christmas will be crucial in determining what part of the league table we will be competing come May.

And Klopp, without explicitly mentioning the title, has revealed what he thinks is the best way to “stay in the race”.

In a word – it’s development.

The United game comes exactly one year after Klopp took charge of his first game against Spurs at White Hart Lane, and he took the chance to look back on the last 12 months and explain some of his philosophies.

“From my side, it feels like a short year! It’s gone like this (clicks fingers). Hopefully I will have many more years here,” he said (Echo).

“I’ve never thought about the speed or the tempo of our progress, I only knew that we had to get better – that’s how life is.

“Even when you are good, you need to get better because the teams around you all get better too. To stay in the race, development is everything.”

Can Liverpool win the league this season? Let us know in the comments.
