Cameron Brannagan shines as Liverpool U23s run wild in 6-1 rout

Our U23 side beat Kilmarnock 6-1 in a friendly on Friday afternoon.

Cameron Brannagan and Toni Gomes were the two stars of the show as each player scored twice. Harry Wilson and American striker Brooks Lennon were the other two players to find the back of the net.

It was the perfect warm-up for the mini North West derby against Man Utd early next week.

Brannagan played the full ninety minutes while Gomes came off the bench to score both his goals in the final 25 minutes.

“It was an excellent display from the lads and really pleasing to continue our good form,” said U23 boss Michael Beale.

“It was a great opportunity to give some of the lads who haven’t been playing regularly a game, especially with our busy schedule of games coming up.

“Cameron had a fine game. He scored our first goal from the penalty spot after he was brought down and his second goal of the game was a superb strike.”

How long till we see Brannagan back in the first side? Could he play against Spurs in the League Cup? Let us know…
