Liverpool are considering a January deal for Sardar Azmoun, the FC Rostov striker who’s been nicknamed ‘The Iranian Messi’, rather unhelpfully!
The forward is 21-years-old and has already bagged 16 goals for his country, although currently plies his trade in the pedestrian Russian league.
Still, Jurgen Klopp has been impressed, perhaps by Azmoun’s ability to play on the shoulder of the defender and get in behind.
In January the transfer window reopens and with Sadio Mane heading to the AFCON, there’s theoretically room for another attacker in the squad.
