Klopp outlines exact transfer plans for 30-year-old

Liverpool’s hero last night Lucas Leiva will not be leaving the club this month, Jurgen Klopp confirmed in his post-match press-conference last night.

His side downed Plymouth 1-0 thanks to our longest serving player, who notched his first goal since 2010 – unbelievably!

Echo journalist James Pearce tweeted the news after the game.

There’s been recent rumblings that Lucas could move back to his native Brazil, but that won’t happen until the summer – where a departure is probably likely. That being said, he’s been tipped to leave in each of the past three summers, and has stayed with Liverpool on each occasion!

Under Klopp though, Lucas is very much a backup, and having just turned 30, is by no means over the hill.

He’d probably like to be a first-team holding midfielder for a side somewhere, as under Liverpool’s current boss he’s been converted into a utility centre-back.

We’ll watch this space, but for now, enjoy his presence at the club!
