Liverpool boss names the one position he’s most secure with… And it’ll surprise fans

Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp is 100% satisfied with the goalkeeper situation, despite fans earlier in the season suggesting it’s the main area we need to improve.

Before Christmas, Loris Karius was brought in for Simon Mignolet (who in truth hadn’t done much wrong), and started life on Merseyside poorly.

He cost us points in a few matches and was branded a ‘poor signing’ by many, before Klopp took him out of the firing line and reinstated the long-serving Belgian.

Since this decision, our goalkeepers have been mighty solid; Mignolet in the Premier League and Karius in the Cups.

“I understand 100 percent, we talk about the problems we have. A lot of people thought last year we weren’t happy with one goalkeeper, now they think we aren’t happy with two,” he told a packed press-conference today ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Wolves, cited in the Echo

“But I think goalkeeper is our smallest issue! I am fine with the goalkeeper issue.”

Karius needed some time on the sidelines, but he hasn’t put a foot wrong in January, despite his team-mates letting him down. With Mignolet, it’s been the same – and supporters are now discussing other areas of the side which needs addressing in the transfer market rather than the spot between the sticks.

With Mignolet 28 and Karius 23, neither goalkeeper have even reached their peak yet, and provided the German continues to improve and push the current no.1 to do the same, it looks like we may have finally fixed the stopper issue.
