Klopp makes odd comments on Liverpool’s priorities this season

Jurgen Klopp today intimated that it’s better Liverpool are out of the cups than had lost the past three matches in the Premier League.

He was speaking ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash with Chelsea, just two days after the abysmal FA Cup defeat to Wolves at Anfield.

We’ve now lost three on the bounce, but Klopp prefers that only one of these have come in the top flight, to Swansea last weekend, meaning our pursuit of the top four is still alive…

James Pearce of the Echo tweeted his quotes this afternoon:

Some fans will agree with Klopp’s comments, while others will lament the fact that we’re likely to go another season without silverware.

In fact, since winning the FA Cup in 2006, we’ve won just one League Cup in total. For a club of our magnitude, that’s pretty poor, and without European football, many will say that we should have paid far more attention to the domestic cups this season.

If a fresh squad goes on a run in the league now though and challenges for the title, few will complain.

Depends on what side of the fence you sit, of course. We’re romantics though, and think our cup performances this January are unacceptable, and not a silver-lining, as Klopp as suggested.
