Liverpool would love to prove Paul Scholes wrong after recent comments

Paul Scholes thinks Liverpool are fighting it out with Arsenal for fourth place in this season’s Premier League.

The former Manchester United ace reckons his club is nailed on, as are current leaders Chelsea and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

“Chelsea, City, United and then it’s between Arsenal and Liverpool,” he told the Daily Mail

We’d have to agree that Chelsea are a certainty, although they’re probably certainties for the title in fairness – with Antonio Conte’s side eight points clear with 13 games remaining.

Between Manchester City in 2nd and United in sixth, there’s only four points in it – with ourselves currently sitting in fifth, one point behind Arsenal and Spurs.

Unlike United, City and Arsenal, we have no European or cup football to contend with, which will hopefully benefit our Premier League run-in.

Against Spurs last time out we were terrific and if we can perform like that with a fully fit, recharged squad following the break in La Manga, we’re backing Jurgen Klopp’s men all the way.

A run of good results is an absolute necessity, of course.
