This is a turn up for the books…

It’s been revealed by the Echo that Liverpool’s wage bill last year increased by 25%, with the club shelling out £208,258,000 in total to pay players, coaches and all Anfield staff.

Billionaires Manchester City somehow only shell out £198m, despite having the likes of Pep Guardiola, Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and Kevin De Bruyne on payroll, while Arsenal spend £195m.

What’s even more surprising about this is the small size of our squad, having offloaded an enormous amount of deadwood over the summer, including Christian Benteke, Joe Allen, Jordon Ibe and many others.

Liverpool’s bill will only increase, with the likes of Coutinho and Adam Lallana recently signing bumper new deals.

In total, there is 700 people on the club’s payroll, oh which only 139 of those are players, managers or coaches.

Many accuse FSG of skimping in the transfer market, but that cannot be levelled at their approach to wages. Jurgen Klopp is one of the most highly paid managers in the world, for example.
