Liverpool fans are still furious by our bodged pursuit of Virgil Van Dijk, but it seems the player himself isn’t too happy either.
He removed parent club Southampton from his bio (now returned) and then uploaded a snap of himself sat on a plane looking fairly miserable, with a thought-cloud emoji – indicating he’s got much on his mind…
Van Dijk's twitter bio, before and after he changed it. Not happy with it seems. Transfer request incoming? #LFC #vanDijk #TakingAStand pic.twitter.com/azoYss7nw6

Any chance of a move later on this summer relies on a few things. First, CEO Peter Moore has to sit down with Southampton’s executives and explain what happened, following FSG’s public apology yesterday.
Providing the Premier League are not investigating us for an illegal approach, it’s mainly in the player’s court from here on in.
Van Dijk himself will likely have to kick up a fuss and hand in a transfer request, something he obviously didn’t want to do at the beginning of the summer.
However, the Dutchman still wants to play for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool still want him; we just have to change our tactics and stick to the rules.
If Van Dijk tells Southampton openly that he wants to leave, they’ll have little choice but to sell, but we can’t see anything happening until the current storm has passed.
