‘That’s what you need in our team’- Mohamed Salah receives the backing of Liverpool role model

James Milner has identified Mohamed Salah’s expertise in the less glamorous side of football as crucial to what he will offer Liverpool moving forward.

The Egyptian’s explosive attacking qualities have been well-celebrated since his £36.9million arrival on Thursday but it is the winger’s work off the ball that has given Milner good reason to believe he will be a perfect fit.

“That’s what you need in our team. The way we play, you can’t have any passengers,” the club’s vice-captain told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Everyone mucks in and we’ve got great team spirit. Everyone gets on the front foot and gets the press; it only takes one person not to do it for it to break down.”

“He’ll fit into that really well, with and without the ball. He’s very dangerous with it and causes a lot of problems. And without it, that’s so important the way we play.”

“Looking at his stats and things like that, he has had a good season. He is a dangerous player and someone who is going to do really well for us, I’m sure.”

Salah’s ability to fulfil the need at Liverpool for hard work and high intensity football, both with and without the ball, makes Jurgen Klopp’s determination to sign him self-explanatory.

His sheer pace and directness makes him capable of matching the impact Sadio Mane had in his first season by posing as a leading figure in retrieving the ball and launching counterattacks.

This, in turn, promises to enhance Liverpool’s all-important quick transition from defence to attack with the added bonus of the width Salah provides.

The traits are there for him to become yet another inspired Klopp summer signing.
