Jurgen Klopp is eyeing a late deal for Real Madrid’s swashbuckling Croat Mateo Kovacic, reports Spanish outlet Diario Gol.
They suggest that the 23-year-old is not entirely content in Spain because Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Isco are ahead of him in the pecking order, and new signing Dani Ceballos will add further competition.

Liverpool need an extra body in central midfield, with Klopp failing to sign his primary target Naby Keita after offloading Lucas and Kevin Stewart.
But we’d be mighty surprised if Kovacic arrived at Anfield…
He’s developing well under Zinedine Zidane for the best club side on the planet by a very large distance – and we cannot see why Real Madrid would consider weakening themselves at this stage of the window by selling Kovacic.
We do expect Liverpool to at least for a central midfielder at some point, but at this point, have no idea as to who that’ll be.
