Drogba reaches out to Liverpool player on Twitter

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has sent a message of congratulations to Mo Salah, whose last minute penalty for Egypt secured their World Cup qualification.

The pair played together briefly during Salah’s unsuccessful stint at Stamford Bridge, but the 25-year-old has come on leaps and bounds and is now recognised as one of the most exciting attackers in the country – thankfully in Liverpool red.

Drogba claimed that Salah’s goal proved he is a ‘leader of the nation’ and that it reminded him of the Ivory Coast’s World Cup Qualification in 2006 – in which the striker was key.

Drogba currently plays for Phoenix Rising FC in the MLS, having left Montreal in the summer.

Aged 39, he’s prolific in America, scoring seven goals in 11 starts this term.

Salah’s slightly ahead of him though, having registered nine goals in his past 14 games for club and country!
