Klopp’s likely weekend changes named [Mirror]

Dave Maddock in the Mirror reckons Jurgen Klopp could change two of his back-five from the 4-1 Wembley drubbing.

The journalist suggests that Dejan Lovren and Simon Mignolet will be immediately dropped, as they were the most culpable from the embarrassing Spurs loss.

But instead of Ragnar Klavan directly replacing Lovren, Joe Gomez will move central from right-back and Trent Alexander-Arnold will come in to the spare position.

Karius has started four games so far this term but will now be given a run as the Premier League stopper.

We probably agree with both of these changes, although hardly see a defensive set-up of Karius; Trent, Gomez, Matip, Moreno as watertight.

To think, we had a reported £150m transfer budget over the summer and come November, that’s the best we can start with.

The only player of that five who cost any kind of proper money was Moreno, who arrived from Sevilla for £12m in 2014.

The fact he’s been our most consistent defender in 2017/18 says everything we need to know about the state of our backline.
