Tom Werner has come out and unequivocally denied that FSG rejected a £1.5bn bid for Liverpool from a Dubai based consortium, via the Echo.
The original story suggested that FSG pulled the plug on the deal because of an expected increase in overseas TV money coming into English football – basically meaning they can make more than £1.5bn if they wait a few years.
We actually believe Werner’s rebuttal though as the publication which made the claims, ‘The National‘, is a notoriously unreliable one.

But this hasn’t stopped fans on Twitter reacting to the rumour.
In fact, many have used it as an excuse to take a swipe at our owners, who an increasing amount now believe are holding us back from competing at the very top.
Where do you stand, Reds?

Having lived in UAE I’d caution against taking anything you read in The National as fully truthful.
