‘El Gol Digital’ farts out laughable Mo Salah swap-deal lie

In the editorial meetings at some of these Spanish outlets, they must literally pick players, teams and prices out of a hat – then conjure the transfer rumour accordingly.

We can 100% guarantee no actual journalism has gone into El Gol Digital’s claim that Mo Salah is joining Atletico Madrid for £50m.

You may see it rehashed by British media in the coming days, but that’s purely to drive website traffic.

We’re writing about it to let Liverpool fans there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

El Gol Digital say that Liverpool will accept £50m for our Egyptian in January, or maybe a swap deal involving Yannick Carrasco.

Surely they know that a winger with 12 goals in 17 starts at a new club is worth considerably more than that in today’s market.

The truth is that Liverpool would scoff at an offer of £100m and wouldn’t even consider entering a discussion. £50m would be deemed downright offensive.

Salah will be a Liverpool player for many years to come – and he certainly won’t be joining a side like Atleti who look set to be knocked out of the Champions League!
