‘We have a problem’ Conte already making excuses for Chelsea v Liverpool

It’s normally Jurgen Klopp who’s complaining about the English fixture schedule!

But this week, we’ve actually got lucky compared to our next Premier League opponents Chelsea.

Antonio Conte’s side need to travel to Azerbaijan on Wednesday night, will arrive back to England on Thursday morning, and have to get themselves to Liverpool in time for the Saturday evening clash.

The Italian is not happy…

“Now we have another problem,” he told the London Evening Standard.

“We play Qarabag on Wednesday, we get back to London at 5am or 6am on Thursday and then have a game against Liverpool on Saturday.

“Is this normal? I don’t think so.

“If people want more balance in this league they must pay great attention when preparing the fixtures.”

Jordan Henderson scored a world-class goal v Chelsea last season.

Liverpool are on the wrong end of these fixture decisions on enough occasions, so need to take advantage of it this time.

Hopefully, the likes of Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata will work their socks off in the Champions League and be jaded at Anfield

At their best, Chelsea are a terrific side, especially now N’golo Kante is back in the team.

Liverpool have been purring recently, but face much tougher opposition in Sevilla midweek and then Chelsea in six days’ time. A victory in Spain sees us qualify for the Champions League knockout rounds, while a win against the Blues would see us go level with them on 25 points.
