LFC target £42m attacker nicknamed ‘Chucky’ for left-sided forward role

Liverpool will battle it out with Arsenal for £42m-rated Mexican Hirving Lozano, the Daily Star’s chief football writer David Woods has claimed.

The 22-year-old has shone for PSV this year, scoring 11 goals in 16 Eredivisie appearances – all the more impressive considering he starts on the left of a front-three.

Liverpool’s attack is currently flush, with Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, Coutinho and Roberto Firmino performing breathtakingly well and scoring plenty of goals to boot.

Thomas Lemar Exclusive: Reds bid for Monaco star totally separate from Coutinho rumour

At the moment, either Coutinho or Mane play on the left, so if Liverpool’s interest in Lozano is genuine, it suggests a potential summer exit of one of them – most likely Phil to Barca.

We already know the Spanish are desperate for our no.10, but we won’t sell in January and is something we hope only rears its head after the World Cup, when Coutinho’s value could be highest.

At EOTK, this is the first we’ve heard about Jurgen Klopp eyeing Lozano, although he’s definitely an impressive young performer.

We do know however that links to Thomas Lemar are genuine, with the club set to battle it out with Arsenal for the young Frenchman’s signature.

Perhaps one of us will take Lemar and the other Lozano – although we’d be surprised to see such huge money moves take place in January.
