Spanish midfielder [21] desperate to replace Coutinho at Anfield – Report

There’s not a lot we believe in the Spanish press, but this story is at least interesting, mainly because we know we had an interest in the summer.

Diario Gol (translated by talkSPORT), reckon Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos wants a Liverpool transfer as soon as possible, so he can link up with Jurgen Klopp and take Coutinho’s spot as the team’s creative midfielder and the link to the attack.

Our Brazilian is seemingly off to Real’s rivals Barcelona at some point during this window. It seems only a matter of time, according to Goal.

The original report mentions that Ceballos wants to leave Madrid as he’s only been given two La Liga starts under Zinedine Zidane, not befitting a 21-year-old of his mercurial talent.

We’d love Ceballos at Anfield; he’s done special things for Spain’s U21 side; but we can’t see the Champions League holders letting him go.

They offloaded James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata in the summer and one of the reasons they’ve struggled this term is a lack of depth.

Unlike Liverpool, we can’t see them choosing to weaken the roster mid-term…
