LFC star: I can beat Harry Kane

Mo Salah reckons he can beat Harry Kane in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, although recognises the Spurs man has more chances in front of goal due to his position on the field.

The exceptional Kane, who scored a penalty at Anfield on Sunday, is currently on 22 goals for the season, while our Egyptian phenomenon is one behind on 21.

The stats don’t tell the whole story though. Kane has five less assists, has played almost 200 more minutes and notches the odd penalty, too!

Salah starts on the right flank and only one of his 21 goals came from a set-piece – the rest: open play.

“He is a great player, in the last two years he has already been the top scorer. Kane plays as a No.9 and has more chances to score goals than me,” Salah told Marca.

“But in my mind I want to win it, so we will see what happens!”

As well as his individual aims, Salah discussed what he’d like to happen with his teams, suggesting a top four finish and a positive World Cup with Egypt will see him happy.

Of course, we’d like Liverpool to have a very exciting Champions League run, too.

“Now I want to be in a good position in the Premier League and help my international team to pass the first phase in the World Cup in Russia. Those are my goals for now, then we’ll see,” he concluded.

Provided the team stays fit, at EOTK we believe Liverpool can finish 2nd in the Premier League and get to the Champions League semis. That would be serious progress.
