Following his wonderful winner in the UEFA Youth League, Rafa Camacho has been invited to train with Liverpool’s first-team, alongside U18 captain Curtis Jones.
Both the teenagers played in Liverpool U19’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Wednesday, with goals from Ben Woodburn and Camacho confirming Steven Gerrard’s team’s progression to the quarters.
Our youngsters haven’t been to this stage of the competition for plenty of years, so it’s a testament to the players and manager.
Camacho’s goal midweek was stunning and he’ll now hope to impress Jurgen Klopp ahead of summer pre-season.
The Portuguese youth international moved to our Kirby Academy in 2016 after he couldn’t agree a contract with Manchester City.
Aged 17, he’s proving to be one of the Academy’s most exciting prospects, although Jones is the one to watch out for in Gerrard’s side, alongside the currently injured Rhian Brewster.
Woodburn has been training with the first-team for over a year now, and we hope to see him get an opportunity against FC Porto in the upcoming Champions League tie, which is all but won considering we romped the first-leg 5-0.
