At the moment, Liverpool’s first-team literally picks itself, due to a vast number of injuries that make effective rotation impossible.

Joel Matip, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez are all unavailable for selection and our bench looks threadbare, in fairness.

Klopp knows that one way to rectify this is by buying some elite talent…

“We have to strengthen the squad,” he told the Telegraph. “Finding players that will improve the squad 200 per cent will be difficult but we have do some things to make the squad bigger.

“We want a couple of players, but are only looking for good ones. The players we bring in we will all together be 100 per cent convinced about. It’s been like this since I’ve been here and will always be like that.”

The Telegraph suggests that Klopp will still go big for new signings even if we win the Champions League Final against Real Madrid.

There’s a number of positions Liverpool need to bolster.

Firstly, we require a goalkeeper, probably a top, top level no.1 who can come in and start between the sticks next year, although a replacement for Simon Mignolet as a backup is possible.

Another centre-back would do nicely, but a defensive midfielder (Jorginho is a confirmed target – UOL) and a central playmaker are key.

We’d also purchase another wing-forward with speed and skill, as currently, we have no reliable options instead of Mo Salah or Sadio Mane.
