Chelsea are about to commit the ultimate panic-buy and purchase Kepa of Athletic Bilbao for £71m – after meeting the Spaniard’s release-clause, the Telegraph report.

They happily mocked us for overspending on the Brazilian, so now they’re about to drop £6m more on someone who’s largely unheard of, Liverpool fans have laughed on Twitter!
And rightly so, to be honest.
It’s quite nice to see our rivals losing such an important player in Thibuat Courtois just before the campaign begins, especially as they looked so poor on Sunday in the Community Shield.

Kepa, by all accounts, is a very talented & promising goalkeeper. But there’s no way this can be seen as anything other than a panic move by Chelsea, considering they baulked at Roma’s significantly lower valuation of Alisson – a far more proven option – a month ago #cfc

Further evidence that this club is run by morons. If we’re willing to pay the 80M release clause for Kepa , why were they messing about with Alisson despite knowing Courtois stance re contract ???
