Lazar Markovic is still a Liverpool player, Reds, not that we’d know it!
There’s no way that unless we suffer an injury crisis of epic proportions, the Serb will get any game-time this season.
This makes his decision to turn down Anderlecht at the end of August an even more crazy decision.

When he did so, Anderlecht manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck claimed it was due to his side not offering enough money [Echo].
“Our president and sports director did everything to convince Markovic,” he said.
“They waited until Liverpool lowered the price. They almost did a crazy effort for the player, but it wasn’t enough. It’s his own fault that the deal fell through.”
Markovic though has responded on Twitter and denied these claims:
Thank you for making such a great effort for trying to get me back in the club. However, money was not the issue !!!!! Good luck in the future 💜 @rscanderlecht

To be honest, if he had any ambitions of furthering his career, he would have just left.
It’s not like he’s ever going to struggle for money after being contracted to Liverpool for four years, so if he had anything about him – he’d have taken the risk and tried to make something of himself in Belgium.
He preferred to stay at Melwood and rot instead.
