Adam Bogdan names shock ex-Reds teammate who was a ‘genius’ in training

Adam Bogdan was not exactly a Liverpool legend, but he did play alongside some brilliant players during his time with the club – at least at Melwood.

Having arrived in 2015, Bodgan finally left Anfield this summer having made just two competitive appearances having failed to establish himself as back-up for Simon Mignolet, and then Loris Karius and Alisson.

Now he has left the club, Bodgan has been speaking about his time there. Asked about who the best players were in training, the first couple of names that the Hungarian listed were no surprise at all.

Speaking to the Liverpool ECHO, he said: “There were a lot. [Daniel] Sturridge, his finishing is amazing. From one step, he could find any corner. [Philippe] Coutinho was amazing as well. I don’t know what words I should say as I’ll say amazing for other players as well.”

James Milner and Jordan Henderson were also named as being great, more for their physical attributes that their technical abilities, as might be expected. Bogdan then added another name into the mix, however.

He then said: “Lazar Markovic was a genius in five-a-side games. It’s really, really hard to pick one.”

Markovic was one of the worst signings the club has ever made in terms of value for money: he cost £20 million of the Luis Suarez money when he came in back in 2014.

The winger came in with a big reputation and all the top sides wanted him, so clearly he had some talent, but even so, Markovic never showed it away from the training ground. No one would have guessed that he was a ‘genius’ during training!
