Klopp: Liverpool is only in pre-season – we’ll got so much better

Jurgen Klopp has promised Liverpool fans that the side will start performing at a much higher level once ‘pre-season’ is over and the players are fully fit.

We’ve won our first four games and have only conceded one goal, but in truth, only really played well against West Ham at Anfield on Opening Day – and they’ve proven to be quite a poor outfit so far.

Klopp says his squad is still in ‘pre-season’ mode and once they’ve completed this, which we’d presume is after this international break, they’ll play better.

“The players are not at their top level yet,” he is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror. “That is because we are in the early part of the season. It is normal.

“Everybody should know we have a lot of work to do still, but if they don’t then I have told them. When you win four times it sounds really crazy to say this, but it is still part of the preseason for a very long time after the summer.

“From mid-September, we play every three days. So we do the work now, and this is how it is — it is normal that you are not quite at 100 percent in the games.”

There’s been times watching the team this season where we’ve felt a little concerned, because our level has dropped in the second-half, we’ve lacked fluency up top and the midfield’s gone missing – but we should focus on the facts.

We haven’t won our first four games once before in the Premier League, we’ve been superb defensively and new signings Fabinho and Naby Keita are not fully integrated into the side yet.

Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino have seven goals between them, so once they do being to click – we’ll have games where we run riot again.

The key is that even when we don’t, we can still win.
