Jurgen Klopp joined in the flow of praise heading James Milner’s way during his Melwood press-conference today.
Liverpool’s manager was asked about the Englishman’s start to the season, with Milner putting in yet another potentially Man of the Match performance against PSG on Tuesday night.
The 32-year-old has started every game this campaign and been exceptional throughout – impressing everyone with his jaw-dropping work-rate that belies his age.
Klopp’s claimed that Milner’s natural physical traits are what enables him to perform at such a high level.
“James is the best example for them (the squad). He is a very energetic boy and likes to cover big distances,” he began. “He can play football, and that makes him a pretty valuable player.
“It’s not just this season, last year he had most assists in CL. Only in football it sounds like 32 was a massive age. In all other parts of life you are still young, and he is still young. He is a top professional and his body gives him a chance to do so (play).”
The boss isn’t wrong! During pre-season fitness tests, Milner demolished everybody else in the squad. He very rarely gets injured and despite the fact that many footballers have burnt out by 32, Milner is playing the best football of his career.
