Klopp: Why Reds ‘deserved’ penalty luck

Jurgen Klopp was happy with a point against Manchester City as he expressed his feeling that his players deserved their luck in the goalless draw.

Riyad Mahrez’s awful spot kick let his side off the hook as the Algerian fired well over the top.

Klopp told BBC Sport: “What we had with all these games, the little setback three days ago, and such a response, is great.

“You cannot – and we never did – dominate City, even when we won [last season]. The start of the game, we were brilliant – most difficult to play. Unfortunately, we could not keep that level exactly, but we were really good, organised, calm.

“Of course, we were lucky with the penalty, but with all the situations today, that was deserved luck, so all good. All the rest in the game, I liked.”
