Rene van der Gijp has just made all Liverpool fans smile by suggesting his client Hakim Ziyech is too good for Everton.
The Morocco international currently plies his trade for Ajax and is arguably the best player in the Dutch league.
He has superb creative skills and a wonderful left-foot, which he uses to conjure goals and assists.
Ziyech’s representatives have laughed off Everton’s rumoured interest and instead pined for a club like Liverpool to make a move.
“I hope that there will be a better club than Roma – an Arsenal or Liverpool,” van der Gijp told Voetbal.
When asked about a potential move to Everton, however, Der Gijp was less interested.
“That would be crazy for that boy, he should not go to Everton,” he added.
This term, Ziyech has five goals already and is capable of playing as a no.10 or in one an advanced wide-role.
The 25-year-old has ability, but we’re not sure he’s an upgrade on Xherdan Shaqiri, who has already showed glimpses of what he can do after coming off our bench.
If we are to buy a new playmaker, it needs to be someone of elite ability who can actively improve our team. Nabil Fekir of Lyon, anyone?!
