Steven Gerrard has spoken in glowing terms about PSG, with French outlet RMC claiming that our legendary former captain could one day manage the Ligue 1 champions.

Liverpool take on PSG next week in the Champions League, so while it’s not as if the Rangers boss will have split loyalties – he has admitted respecting the team led by Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

“I watch Ligue 1. I feel a lot of respect for this championship,” he told France Football, cited by RMC.

“France are the world champions. There’s physical power, but the game is also fast and technical. I watch a lot of French games.

“I like PSG.

“Paris is my team in France and the owner (the Crown Prince of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, editor’s note) is also my friend.”

Gerrard’s doing a very good job in charge of Rangers right now.

His team are two points off Celtic at the top of the SPL table and still have a chance of qualifying from their Europa League group.

It’s hard to like Rangers in all honesty, but it’s still good seeing Gerrard do so well. Hopefully it continues throughout the season and next summer, he can take over at a larger European club and pick up genuine Champions League experience.

Gerrard has no French, so it could be tricky for him to actually take charge of PSG anytime soon – but with Jurgen Klopp contracted until 2022 – it will be some time before Stevie is ready to test his mettle at Liverpool.
