Liverpool fans have started the week in high spirits thanks to the news that Joe Gomez has signed a contract extension at the club.
The defender has been rewarded for his stunning form with a new six-year deal set to keep him at Anfield until 2024.
It arrives a matter of days after the Englishman was ruled out for up to six weeks with a fractured leg sustained in Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Burnley.
Gomez has been one of the Reds’ standout figures over the opening months of the campaign, playing a starring role behind his side’s outstanding defensive record.
At just 21 years of age, he has already teased the potential to be a formidable long-term partner to Virgil van Dijk as well as one of European football’s most accomplished central defenders.
His new deal follows on from the Reds’ entire front three putting pen to paper in Liverpool cementing their foundations for the future.

Joe Gomez, who has been immense this season, has signed a new five-year deal with #LFC. He has continuously proved not just his class and quality at Anfield, but his character too. Excellent for the club to secure a supreme young defensive talent for the long term.
