Gerrard makes his most ambitious transfer move yet, but Klopp might not budge

Former Premier League and Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson reckons Steven Gerrard is eyeing up Liverpool’s Adam Lallana.

Ferguson has claimed our often injured Englishman is the next target, after Gerrard managed to clinch Jermaine Defoe on loan from Bournemouth.

Rangers are going for the SPL title this term, currently level on points with Celtic, although they’ve played a game more.

“See if this was six, eight weeks ago? I know Defoe was mentioned and obviously Davis, these two signings have happened, and now I’m beginning to believe Adam Lallana,” Ferguson told PLZ Soccer.

“I think he’s a top, top player. If Rangers get him, they’ve got an even better chance to snatch the title away from Celtic.

“But he is a top, top player. If Rangers pull that off, I’ll need to give them a handshake.”

Many Liverpool fans won’t mind seeing the back of Lallana, who is no longer a proper asset due to his simple inability to keep match fit.

In the past two years, he’s picked up 12 separate injuries, which is just ludicrous to be honest.

Jurgen Klopp rates Lallana as a footballer very highly, so we actually cannot imagine him allowing a move this January.

In our race for the title, we need as big and as strong a squad as possible, and although Lallana isn’t always available, he’s occasionally a decent bench option.

In the summer though, this one might have legs.
