‘Very nice!’: Virgil van Dijk reacts to his double against Watford

Virgil van Dijk scored twice at Anfield as the Reds demolished Watford to maintain their position at the summit of the Premier League – and he was delighted with the team’s performance.

Both of his goals were scored with his head and assisted by full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson. They were the icing on the cake for him individually after a dominating performance against Troy Deeney and Gerard Deulofeu.

Via LiverpoolFC.com, Van Dijk said: “It was a great performance overall, we dominated and had a lot of great possession.

“Especially in the first half, we played very well. They couldn’t really find a solution for our press. We scored some great goals and obviously, it was very nice to be on the scoresheet.”

Van Dijk will need to be equally as exceptional at the weekend against Everton in the Merseyside derby. His brace tonight should have boosted his confidence ready for that one.

The Reds were brilliant against Watford across all departments – do that 10 more times in the Premier League and we will be champions.
