Injury updates from Jürgen Klopp’s pre-Burnley press conference

Posted by

Ahead of our home game against Burnley on Sunday, Jürgen Klopp has outlined some of our existing injury concerns in his pre-match press conference. His announcements won’t come as a huge surprise, but there’s some good news too!

According to the boss, “Dejan trained yesterday completely normally for the first time”, which is obviously fantastic news. Even if the Croatian doesn’t start on Sunday (which he won’t), his presence on the bench will give the team a boost and add some seniority to our substitutes.

Further to that news, the boss also declared that, “Joe [Gomez] is now running with 100% of his weight and that looks good.

“Most of the problems will be sorted probably after the international break but Dejan we have to see because he’s been out for a while. He is not injured anymore but how fit he is we need to say.

“Rhian is in a really good way and a place where Ox was three weeks ago probably.

“Milly everything heals quicker but still three days to go, he trained yesterday with the rehab coach and if you asked him he will say he is ready.

“Jordan is fine.”

So, all in all, it looks like we’re starting to get somewhere with our long-term absentees. With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain playing for the first time in over a year – albeit for the under-23s – things are looking good for us, Reds.

Now we just need one of Lovren or Gomez back and we’re in business!
