Predicted LFC XI v FC Porto – No Robertson or Wijnaldum in CL QF

We reckon that Jurgen Klopp will give his practically ever-present midfielder Gini Wijnaldum a rest on Tuesday evening in the Champions League.

The Dutchman has been superb this season, but has looked extremely leggy in our two most recent Premier League wins over Spurs and Southampton – which is unsurprising considering he played the full 90 in both of Netherlands’ games during the international break – too.

In his place, we think the boss will select the midfield that ended the Southampton game: Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita.

Elsewhere, the boss has a big decision to make at the back. Andy Robertson is suspended, meaning either Alberto Moreno or James Milner will take the spot at left-back.

Although it’s FC Porto at home and we should dominate, Milner is the safer option. After all, a Moreno defensive howler could gift the Portuguese an away goal and with it a real chance of progression.

Trent Alexander-Arnold isn’t 100% fit, but the youngster surely must start at right-back. Without him, we’re a far less productive side down his flank.

Obviously, the front-three picks itself.

Our team in full: Alisson; Trent, Milner, Van Dijk, Matip; Fabinho, Henderson, Keita; Salah, Mane, Firmino

Thoughts, Reds?
