Flurry of bets in 24 hours; Reds new favourites for hyped winger

This is a slightly weird one that won’t go away…

Liverpool are now the favourites to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi, with shorter odds than any other club to secure Chelsea’s wonderkid.

According to the Echo, 64% of bets on CHO’s next club have been placed on Liverpool since this time yesterday, which has installed us as 5/1 options, with Bayern Munich out at 10/1 with Sky Bet.

Now, odds on transfer rumours essentially mean very little. People take a punt and the bookies shorten them. Plenty of times players are odds on to sign for somebody and in actual fact there’s no interest at all!

So, we’re taking this with a large pinch of salt.

However, the 18-year-old hasn’t renewed his contract, which expires in 2020, and as of yet has showed no signs of doing so.

Jamie Carragher on Monday Night Football yesterday said Hudson-Odoi should not sign new terms and should run his deal down and decide what to do next season…

This makes sense, and in all honesty, we cannot see Chelsea selling this summer – regardless of potential offers from ourselves or any other English club.

It’s likely that Michael Edwards and Liverpool’s scouts have sent the feelers out, but there would be an enormous backlash from Chelsea fans if the club even considered offloading CHO to Liverpool.

Sadly, we reckon we’ll have to turn our attention elsewhere.
