Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer to ever grace the field, so we perhaps shouldn’t be too surprised when he conjures moments of such genius.
When it happens against your side though, it’s pretty hard to take.
Just minutes after the no.10 had made it 2-0, completely against the run of play, he curled in a majestic freekick from all of 35-yards out to leave the footballing world in awe.
Jurgen Klopp could do nothing but smile, as if to say, ‘fair enough’.
It reminded us of Gareth Bale’s overhead kick in the Champions League Final last season, actually. The kind of moment you literally cannot plan for or do anything about.
Watch the moment and Klopp’s face, below:
OH MY 🤯😂
LIONEL MESSI YOU ARE NOT FROM THIS EARTH!!!!!
What a way to score your 600th goal for Barcelona 🔥🔥🔥
We are not worthy. pic.twitter.com/9QTZ0iycSH
