Roberto Firmino is winning his battle to be fit for the Champions League final, according to the Liverpool ECHO, as was expected to be the case.
Divock Origi did an admirable job in his absence, but there is no doubt that it would be a big boost for the Brazilian to be available to start against Tottenham.
With two weeks to go still until the final in Madrid, Firmino posted a series of images on Instagram of him training with Liverpool fitness coach David Rydings.
Most of the squad are away at the moment, taking time off as the Premier League season has ended. Once the players return early next week, they will head out for a group training camp ahead of the final.
Having been to the final last year, everyone in the squad – including the coaches – has experience of what it will take to get over the line. Everything will be in place for them to be in peak condition by June 1.
