What’s happening with Liverpool’s ‘friendly’ before CL Final

Jurgen Klopp is still desperate for his side to get a match in, preferably this weekend, before the Champions League Final on June 1.

That’s according to Andy Hunter in the Guardian, who says Liverpool have not been knocked back in arranging a behind closed-doors friendly ahead of the Spurs fixture.

The fact it’s the end of the season, with players from clubs all over Europe now on holiday, has ‘complicated’ the issue – but according to Hunter – the Reds will face an U23 side if we cannot get a full team to visit the Marbella base.

This makes sense to us. Our final Premier League game was on May 12, which means there’ll be three weeks between then and the Final – which is actually very annoying as our excellent rhythm and form will now count for little.

On the other hand, Spurs, who were not in especially impressive form – will have a chance to regroup.

Roberto Firmino will also be able to get a runout, which is much-needed because of his recent injury.

Obviously, we have to have our fingers crossed that no new issues arise during the friendly.
