Klopp reckons Liverpool are better than his epic Borussia Dortmund side

Jurgen Klopp has paid his current Liverpool side an extra-ordinary compliment, just four days away from the Champions League Final.

According to the German, his current vintage is the best side he’s ever taken to the final of a competition.

This is a big claim, considering he took Borussia Dortmund to the 2013 Final having just won back to back Bundesliga titles with them…

“I have never been part of a final with a better team than this,” Klopp told BBC Sport.

“I am not so surprised by this because our boys mix our potential with attitude in the best way I have witnessed.

“I don’t like to blame my other teams. I love them all. They all gave everything.”

Liverpool’s current team is undeniably jaw-dropping.

Our 97 points collected in the Premier League was the third most points by a side in English football history.

The fact Manchester City got 98 would be heartbreaking if we didn’t have the chance to better their achievement by securing the European Cup…

Our goalkeeper is world-class, our fullbacks are the best in the business – and inside the marauding duo we have best defender on the planet Virgil van Dijk and his handy partner Joel Matip.

Fabinho is sensational; Jordan Henderson is a courageous, underrated captain; and Gini Wijnaldum is top drawer in midfield.

Then up top, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are as good as any attacking trio on the planet.

Bring on Spurs!
