Reds’ star duo with reduced pre-seasons after break to follow Copa América final

Reds pair Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino will be given a well-earned, three-week break after Sunday’s upcoming Copa América final against Peru, as the Echo reports.

After an extended club season that obviously ended in Champions League glory in Madrid on June 1st, the Liverpool duo flew back to their native Brazil to contest this year’s Copa América.

A hugely succesful campaign has seen Alisson keep a perfect clean sheet record in Brazil and Bobby score twice and assist three – both instrumental in driving Tite’s side to the showdown in Rio de Janeiro.

A Seleção progressed to the final after their latest 2-0 win over Argentina was decided by game-winning contributions from both our Reds.

Jürgen Klopp will give them both three weeks off to recover from international duty at the Copa América, which means Fabinho will be without his Brazilian teammates until the end of July.

Alisson and Bobby will miss the Tranmere and Bradford City games, plus the whole of the USA tour and therefore games against Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, and Sporting CP.

It is expected the two will rejoin the rest of the Reds in Geneva for the friendly against Lyon on the 31st July, before all of their pre-season training will be put to the test on the 4th August when we face Manchester City in the Community Shield ahead of the outset of the 2019/20 season.
