Netherlands winger Steven Bergwijn – who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past – has heaped praise on international teammate Virgil van Dijk.
It was reported in the Netherlands in March that Bergwijn was a potential summer target for the Reds, although there is no suggestion that this is the case from reliable sources in England.
He would, though, be a decent acquisition in terms of adding attacking depth. He would also fit in with the reported budget that the Reds have for an attacking signing in the next few weeks.
Bergwijn told Goal.com: “Van Dijk is an absolute beast. Of course, it is good to be able to measure myself against him in training with the national team.”
Was this a come-and-get-me plea to the Reds? Probably not – although he would be a good signing.
Bergwijn might fancy joining Van Dijk at Anfield, and we think he’d offer a great alternative to the front three, but there is no suggestion that too much should be read into his praise for his international teammate.
