Steven Gerrard has praised Sheyi Ojo following his exploits last night for Rangers in Europa League qualification in Gibraltar – but says the winger needs this season to be a success.
Ojo scored a lovely goal – which you can watch by clicking here – and his overall performance was very good. Now 22, he needs this season to go well.
Gerrard believes everything is in place for that to be the case, and that now it is down to Ojo to put the work in and make regular first-team football a reality.
He said, via the Daily Mail: “Sheyi was outstanding – an incredible performance. He gives us real pace and power down that right-hand side.
“Sheyi has got all the attributes and if this doesn’t work, it will be because of Sheyi. He’s got everything in the locker, he is quick, strong, powerful.
“He knows that he needs to make this work. He is delighted to be here, he has settled in well. Now he has to build on that.”
It will be interesting to see how well Ojo does up in Scotland. Last year, Ryan Kent impressed under Gerrard’s guidance and there is no reason to think Ojo can’t do the same.

Rangers fans are already excited about what he could bring to Ibrox – hopefully, they’re just as impressed in a couple of month’s time.
