Reds legend Steven Gerrard has helped to put a smile back on the face of a nine-year-old supporter by fulfilling the dream of his father, who passed away last year.
According to the Daily Mirror, Robbie Fleming, 26, was desperate to meet Gerrard with his son Jack, and after he died, his mother Alison received a heartwarming message from the Rangers boss.
Gerrard gave his condolences to the family before he then FaceTimed Jack. The pair have also arranged for Jack, who is from Northern Ireland, to come to Liverpool to meet his hero at some point in the coming weeks.
For Gerrard to take time out of his day to make Jack smile again says a lot about the man. It’s often forgotten how much of an impact football and footballers can have on people, but this story proves the power they and it can have.
