Reds legend John Aldridge says Liverpool don’t need to do big business this summer in order to have a successful campaign over the next 10 months.

Aldo says if Jurgen Klopp doesn’t want to spend huge amounts, then he deserves the backing to make that call. He’s spot on – Klopp knows his team better than anyone else does, and his track record is almost impeccable.

Aldo told the Irish Independent: “Jurgen Klopp appears to be ready to hand Liverpool’s youthful talent a chance to shine in his first team rather than signing big money players this summer. He has earned the right to be backed in this bold decision.”

With Sepp van den Berg and Harvey Elliott looking like the only additions to the squad – and with both seen as more long-term prospects than players who will make an immediate impact – the Reds have done business, but perhaps not the type that would have been anticipated.

We think that not signing another player to play in forward positions would be a big risk if Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane was to get injured for a sustained period of time – but like Aldo says, if Klopp wants to do something, every fan should 100% back him.
