Liverpool winger urged to join Premier League club amid Derby interest

Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has been urged to sign for newly-promoted Aston Villa instead of Derby County by former Rams player Danny Mills.

The Wales international is currently enjoying a decent pre-season tour with the Reds who have just landed back in the UK for a fixture against Napoli in Scotland.

The winger spent last season on loan with at Derby and bagged 18 goals for them in what was an impeccable return for the young forward.

Wales Online have previously reported that the midlands club could be a preferable destination for the young midfielder – and Mills’ comments can only add fuel to that fire.

Where’s he likely to go? Aston Villa is down the road, played at Derby, it’s not too far away,” Mills told Football Insider.

He could still live in the Liverpool area, that could play a part. I think it will come down to the fact of where he is considered more likely to get first-team football and more regular first-team football.

Wilson is surely hoping to get himself into Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the upcoming season, but a chance to prove himself at another Premier League club may be too good of an opportunity to turn down.

He had an impressive return at the Championship club which earned him a nomination for the EFL Young Player of the Year award.

There mat still be a place in Liverpool’s squad yet – with Xherdan Shaqiri seemingly going nowhere, the winger can give further cover on the right-wing as the Reds will hopefully look to progress in the domestic cups.
