Klopp positive on signing day debutant Harvey Elliott despite loss to Napoli

After a concerning performance in defeat to Napoli at Murrayfield, Jürgen Klopp gave his post-match thoughts on something altogether more positive.

Harvey Elliott was today annouced as a Liverpool player and swiftly made his debut for the Reds in Edinburgh as a late substitute.

According to Neil Jones over at Goal, Klopp gushed over the 16-year-old who looked confident and determined even in the face of 67,000 fans and a 3-0 scoreline.

The precocious former Fulham youngster seemed set on making a quick first impression, taking on a difficult volley from 20-yards, that, unfortunately, saw the sky well before it saw the net.

Despite that fact, Elliott’s willingness to even take it on shows a conviction and self-assurance that belies his tender years.

As Klopp states, he turned down numerous high-profile moves to come to Anfield and the boss is probably keen to march him, and the rest of the Reds, over to the training camp in Evian to put them through their paces.
