Reds ‘to face competition from PSG’ for Bundesliga star who’d be an ideal signing

PSG are interested in signing Augsburg left-back Philipp Max, who the Reds are reportedly looking as a potential replacement for Alberto Moreno, according to Soccer Link.

Few links have been made to the Reds this summer in terms of incomings, but Max is one that many fans would welcome with open arms. As well as being able to play at left-back, he can also play further forward, so would be a versatile addition.

The issue with most signings is that they would know Andy Robertson is going to play most weeks, so their game time would be severely restricted.

Signing someone like Max – or Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon – eliminates that issue to an extent because they can provide cover in more than one area of the pitch, and would therefore have more chances to get on the pitch.

Jurgen Klopp will know the 26-year-old well given his familiarity with the Bundesliga and it doesn’t seem like the club have made a move for him yet. With PSG interested, though, the Reds will have to get a move on if he is a target.
