Everyone seems to have seen the goal that Gini Wijnaldum scored for the Netherlands against Germany last night (though you can click here to view it if you haven’t), but another Reds man was on the scoresheet for his nation.
Dejan Lovren has not had the best of times over the last couple of months, admitting that he wanted to depart Anfield over the summer in search of first-team football, but was not allowed to as his valuation was not met, but he netted a diving header for Croatia last night in their 4-0 win over Slovakia.
Croatia will be heading to Euro 2020 next summer, where Lovren will hope to still be in the starting XI, despite being fourth choice under Jurgen Klopp this season. Goals like this one, though, will do his case for minutes no harm at all.
