Klopp convinces Odegaard’s father to let Norwegian no.10 join Liverpool – Report

Liverpool fancy Real Madrid owned playmaker Martin Odegaard, who is currently tearing up trees for Real Sociedad in La Liga.

According to the admittedly unreliable Don Balon, Jurgen Klopp has already contacted Odegaard’s father who now agrees a summer 2020 move to Anfield is best for his client and son.

The report says that Odegaard has always been a Liverpool fan; that Klopp wanted the former wonderkid as far back as 2015 and that the player himself has had enough of Real Madrid due to a lack of chances they’ve given him over the years…

Odegaard has been jaw-dropping this term – and was man of the Match as his loan club Real Sociedad beat Real Betis 3-1 at the weekend.

We’ve included a highlight package from his performance in a video below, which you can check out for yourselves.

The 20-year-old can play as a natural, creative central midfielder or as a no.10 – two positions Klopp utilises heavily in either his 4-3-3 or the 4-2-3-1 he’s regularly switched to at points this season.

Odegaard will be very expensive as Real Madrid will not want to lose a potential world-beater, but Liverpool’s apparent interest makes sense to us. Adam Lallana’s deal expires at the end of this term – as does James Milner’s – so a boost in central areas could be necessary.

We love Odegaard’s attributes, vision and his incredibly high-ceiling, but at this point, very much understand there are no concrete links.
